
Making UV Lamps That Actually Last in a Factory
We spent 15 years playing the OEM game, just slapping our name on other people’s gear. Eventually, we got tired of it. We wanted to build our own Quartz UV lines because we had a very specific goal: stop the tubes from burning out the second you push them to peak wattage in a 24/7 production run. The trick is in the quartz. We use high-purity fused quartz for the outer shell. Most people think it’s just about handling the heat, but it’s really about the light. Standard glass basically kills shortwave UV before it can even get out. Fused quartz lets it fly through. But here’s the tricky part: the wall thickness. If we make it too thin, the tube cracks the moment a technician bumps it during install. Too thick? You lose your UV punch. It’s a balancing act. Dealing with the heat When you crank up the wattage, things get hot. Fast. Most lamps fail because of “end-blackening”—that gunk that builds up and kills your output long before the filament actually snaps. We tweaked the electrode mix to stop that from happening. The result is a steady, consistent UV flow from one end of the tube to the other. Just a heads-up, though. If you’re pushing high wattage, your reflectors are taking a beating. If your cooling fans aren’t up to the task, your lamps won’t last. It’s a simple trade-off: you can have insane curing speed, or you can have a longer lifespan. You can’t always have both. The “Drop-In” Fit There is nothing worse than a new lamp that doesn’t quite fit. We designed these to slide right into the sockets of the big international brands. We obsess over the end caps and pins because if you’re off by even a fraction of a millimeter, the lamp won’t seat. That leads to arcing, and then—pop—your lamp is dead on arrival. We test every single batch for vacuum leaks and gas precision. We want to make sure that when you flip the switch, the light hitting your product is exactly what you expected.
