
Getting the Most Out of our 80W/cm Mercury UV Modules
Back at the 2026 Printing Exhibition, everyone was talking about output density. We decided to bring our custom 80W/cm mercury UV modules to the floor to show people exactly how precise power distribution changes the way ink actually cures.
Why 80W/cm actually matters
When we talk about 80W/cm, we aren’t just throwing numbers around. It’s about the actual punch the light delivers to your material. We’ve tuned these lamps to keep that output steady from one end of the tube to the other. Why does that matter? Because if you’re working with thick, high-viscosity inks, you can’t just “skin” the top. You need the cure to go all the way through. Plus, it’s a lifesaver for high-speed lines. When you crank up the conveyor, your product spends way less time under the lamp. This extra intensity makes up for that lost time. It keeps things moving without sacrificing quality.
The build and the heat
We use high-purity quartz glass here. It keeps the UV from getting absorbed by the glass itself, letting more light hit the ink. The mercury vapor inside hits those 254nm and 365nm peaks that most industrial photoinitiators love. We also beefed up the electrodes. If you’re constantly switching the system on and off, standard lamps tend to burn out. Ours can take the hit. But here is the catch: pushing 80W per centimeter creates a lot of heat.A lot. You can’t just tuck these into a closed box and hope for the best. You need a solid cooling fan or a water-jacket. If your airflow is weak, the lamp gets too hot, the light spectrum shifts, and you might end up scorching your substrate.
Putting them to work
We designed these as drop-in replacements. We obsessed over the footprint so they slide right into your existing UV tunnels. No one wants to rebuild their entire machine just to upgrade a lamp. For the people on the floor, it’s a breeze. Swap the lamp, wire it to a stable ballast, set your speed, and you’re done. You get a hard, scratch-resistant finish every time. It’s a simple trade: you get massive curing power, as long as you keep the temperature under control.
